Tru-Spec TRU Winter Combat Shirt

I found the shirt worked great during cold weather. I have only worn it a couple of times, but the shirt kept me warm during the Wisconsin winter. I would strongly recommend it. I look forward to seeing how the shirt wears over time. The sizes run a bit large.

I think the shirts are well worth the money, especially when you compare them to some of the other major law enforcement brands. I searched for a long time for something to substitute for my Flying Cross brand...I think this is it.

There are some negatives when using these shirts in law enforcement, the sleeve pockets are puffy and the hook and loop attachment for the patches is probably ok for the military, but as a law enforcement shirt, it looks more "tacticool" than functional.

All in all, great shirt. I will be buying more. Dealing with Mad City Outdoor Gear made the entire process much less frustrating than other sellers.

I have no professional exposure to the tactical world, and I regularly make fun of all the "tacticool" people I see at the range who don't know what they are doing, even though they look the part. BUT I appreciate gear that does what it is supposed to, and after looking at ridiculously expensive purpose built options, I decided to try this combat shirt for cool weather night mtn bike rides. While not saving lives, or defending freedom (thanks to those who do!!!), I still need comfortable, protective gear that works with me and never gets in the way. It can drop into the 30s but bulky layers to deal with wind chill (30mph) and sweating/heat evacuation are not a good option. Being able to stash my phone, wallet, and keys in the shoulder pouches is not only easier access, but get them out of my shorts pockets, where they are uncomfortable and much more likely to get hit in a crash. The elbow pouches securely hold my CE elbow armor from one of my motorcycle jackets, meaning no more wearing separate pads. This saves weight and makes me more comfortable. After a few solid crashes and plenty of high speed run ins with branches, the sleeves do their job and are holding up incredibly well to plenty of abuse. I keep my CRKT CEO knife in one of the pen slots so I have instant access but it stays in place. Combined with a base layer and a light wind vest, I have great control and am never too hot or too cold as the temperatures and speeds change. This has been the best piece of cool weather riding gear I've used in over 25 yrs out on my trails at night. I just purchased the lighter urban option now that things are warming up. I've even been trying to swing my mtn bike buddies to see the light and look at something beyond overpriced mtb gear.

i got it shipped to a friends house so i didn't try it on for a moment there but when i did it was cozy, the fleece is lined through the sleeves and the Velcro is a strong quality that other combat shirts i have had don't.

If your thinking about ordering one of these combat sweaters, DO IT! you will be happy you did. True spec gear is well made and looks better than the rest. Soft, thick, and durable. Amazing fit!
