NATURAL STRIDE

Hyper-flexible and light with an ergonomic binding, the Symbioz adapts to the unevenness of the terrain to give extraordinary traction. The inserts provide elasticity and lightness and offer a feeling of freedom and ease.

CARBON REINFORCEMENTS

Carbon reinforcements offer superb flexibility; they store energy during the bending phase and restore it at the end of the stride to increase stride power and reduce effort. They act dynamically during every part of the stride. Distortion of the Symbioz Elite frame is progressive, responsive, precise, and uniform in both the bending and twisting phases. Carbon reinforcements reduce vibration and give greater muscle relaxation and the feeling of freedom and ease.

BINDING

  • The flexible binding provides a high level of foot flexibility
  • Lock Adjustment: This easy-to-use adjustment memorizes your shoe size for all your snowshoeing outings.
  • Memory Lock System: The system provides rapid, efficient tightening and memorizes the front volume of the shoe.
  • Lateral Adjust: offer greater comfort with their side adjustment system that will accept any width of shoe to give maximum foot surround.
  • Ankle PRE-ADJUST: Enables you to center the comfort PAD on your instep and permanently set its position.
  • Tightening through a ratchet system for a secure and fast fit.
  • Padded comfort strap.
  • Sound and Shock Absorbing System (SSAS).
  • Easy Ascent Heel lift, activated by simply pushing with the pole.

TRACTION

Never has a snowshoe offered such an outstanding grip. Combined with the vertical blades, the stainless steel bidirectional crampons placed under the foot give incredible traction (uphill), excellent grip (downhill), and perfect drift control (incline). The flexible frame follows the shape of the terrain, provides superb stability and complete safety, and avoids sudden sliding in powder snow.

  • The front teeth provide maximum traction on steep slopes.
  • The vertical blades provide superb traction and control on inclines or steep slopes in soft snow.
  • 8 interchangeable stainless steel crampons, similar to mountaineering crampons, provide traction on all types of snow.

COMFORT AND EASE

Comfortable and easy to put on as a result of their pre-adjustment feature that memorizes shoe size, the Symbioz’ telescopic bindings accentuate the foot movement provided by the frame. The Easy Ascent heel lift incorporated into the binding is activated by a simple downward push from the pole. Also, during ascents, you won’t have any feeling of discomfort under your foot as your weight is spread across the whole of the binding heel. Within the frame. The new Easy Ascent heel lift, built into the binding, is activated by simply pushing it with the pole.

Fabulous

I love these snowshoes. They were very difficult to adjust at the beginning, which is only a one-time thing and securing and releasing the ankle piece was difficult to figure out. It takes very strong hands to release the ankle buckle. The direction book and video do not match the design of this shoe. I am not an advanced techy nor a skier so I had to have someone help me who is used to ski, snowboard hooking up, etc. I have taken them out a couple of times and we are becoming friends. They are a beautiful and awesome snowshoe!

I've only used them once so far, they are light and easy to walk in. My only issue is one ankle binding is a little tricky to release.

Perfect hiking snowshoes

After growing up with classic wooden snowshoes, these were quite a change! I took my time getting the bindings set just right with my winter hiking boots and that made all the difference when I hit the trail. These snowshoes are incredibly easy to get on and off (once you've dialed in the bindings) and very light. I purchased these specifically for hiking, so I knew I needed a snowshoe that was pliable, light and had good traction. The Symbioz snowshoes deliver on all three areas. Whereas my childhood wooden snowshoes would easily glide over powder snow in fields, these snowshoes felt like I was glued to the terrain. I took them up a decent grade on my first time out and didn't so much as slip backwards once. I was hiking without poles and never once felt unsteady. The heel lifts were also indispensable for the steeper terrain. Highly recommended. Mad City was also awesome to deal with as my local shops were all sold out by the time I got around to getting snowshoes this year. Great price and quick shipping!

Easy on and off

It took some experimenting with the set up and learning how the bindings worked, even which one goes on which foot, but that all being solved there is only one complaint. On ice-coated, crunchy trails, they are very noisy. I plan to use ear plugs next time, they are that bad. One thing is certain, they grip like mad both up and down.
